Your Sleep Persona - The Lion

The Lion

The Fierce

Lions prefer waking up in the early hours of the morning and feel their most energetic and productive just before the sun rises. Lions are known for sleeping well and for sleeping long, with an occasional nap being helpful. Their early schedules are often idolised by society, a metaphor for their hard work and grit, being able to brush off even the biggest of problems. But with great power, comes great responsibility.

Your ideal schedule

  • Your best time for problem solving 7am - 11am
  • Where creative inspiration strikes 1pm - 6pm
  • Ideal time to wind down 8pm - 10pm
  • Ideal time to sleep 10pm onwards

Your Body Clock

We all have a natural master body clock in our brain that triggers our "sleep-wake circadian rhythm". This circadian rhythm is designed to regulate feelings of sleepiness and wakefulness over a 24-hour period. This means feeling sleepy or awake is a biological experience, determined by our genetics!

Every person has a different circadian rhythm and your SLEEP PERSONA has been based on your own unique rhythm of sleepiness and wakefulness. Understanding your SLEEP PERSONA helps you get the most out of your day.

Your Performance

As a Lion, your master body clock has been set so that you feel more alert during the early hours of the day. This means your morning period from 7am to 11am is when you have your greatest focus and energy. ANALYTICAL tasks that require logical and critical thinking, and in turn needs a lot of attention to detail, focus and very few distractions, are best completed during this time period.

After an intense period of focus, a good time to take a short break will be around noon. This helps your brain re-organise itself.

The afternoon from 1pm to 6pm is when your energy levels may be lower (compared to the morning) and you might find it hard to remain vigilant. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get anything productive done. It's a great time for CREATIVE tasks. Tasks which require innovative, out of the box thinking or where you need to generate new ideas and solutions, (commonly done in teams) may be attractive.

As a lion and being a master of the occasional nap, scheduling a short nap in the afternoon is a great way to restore your energy and thinking power. For some lions, this leads to a “SECOND ENERGY BOOST” in the afternoon, while others start winding down for the day. Because of this boost, friends and colleagues of lions quite often rely on them in the afternoon to drive things forward. A lion doesn't back away from this challenge and prefers to shoulder the additional responsibility.

Your Wind Down & Sleep

Lions are naturally good sleepers and their best time to sleep is around 10pm. Being an "early waker", sticking to a REGULAR SLEEP TIME at night, even on weekends is recommended. Otherwise, lions find themselves experiencing an uncomfortable rebound effect come Monday.

With plenty of responsibilities, a WIND DOWN routine is critical to help lions relax by the end of the day. 8pm - 10pm is a great window for a wind down. Allocate 60 minutes before bed and take some time to do a guided audio meditation. It will work wonders for your sleep and performance.
