We’re pleased to announce the latest release of our App and Software, version 2.8, to the App Store and Google Play store. Version 2.9 is also in development with a target release date of mid-March.
V2.8 is a small update to Kokoon Relax designed to improve usability and reliability. V2.9 will include a variety of larger changes that we’ve been working on for some time to improve things like the battery life of your Kokoon headphones, the effectiveness of our sensor system, and server stability. Read on for more detail about both releases!
V2.8 includes the following updates:
- We have added foreign language support to our Apps with German being the first language supported in addition to English.
- Apple’s release of iOS 13 created many issues for Bluetooth connection stability on iOS devices. V2.8 includes fixes for many of the issues created by this update.
You can download the new version of the app directly from the App Store and Google Play store. The firmware update for v2.8 will appear as a notification within the app and if you come across any issues, please refer to our troubleshooting guide here.
Multi-language support
We want to make Kokoon more usable for more customers, and 2020 will see us add support for more languages in addition to English. We’re pleased to announce the addition of German to the Kokoon Relax app!
We have included updated menus and descriptions throughout the mobile app, and we’re working on the production of our spoken word content in German as well, to be released early 2020. Once this is complete, we will move on to adding further languages.
If you are a German speaker when you download the mobile app from either app store your phone’s language should be auto-detected and the appropriate language selected. If you already have the mobile app installed, to access the German language version you would need to re-install the app.
iOS 13 compatibility
When Apple released iOS 13 it included multiple changes to how Bluetooth connections are handled. Unfortunately, this caused a lot of issues for products like Kokoon which rely on stable Bluetooth connections to perform. Since the initial release, Apple has released multiple revisions to iOS 13 to try and correct these issues.
Our team has been working hard on these issues in parallel and we’re pleased to announce that version 2.8 includes fixes for most issues we’ve seen.
Version 2.9
Version 2.9 is planned for release in mid-March and will include changes in three major areas:
Battery life
We’ve heard the comments from you about how you’d like to see improved battery life. By analyzing the performance of our electronics and improving our firmware we are planning to release an update to the headphones that will deliver significant improvement. Stay tuned for the next update, we’re excited to get this released!
Improved sampling rate
We’re working on improving the sampling rate of our system to allow us to gather more data via our sensors, giving a more granular review of your biosignals and improved performance.
Server stability
We’ve heard reports of issues from some of our customers about problems syncing sleep data after using the headphones and app and we’ve identified the cause of these issues being related to our servers. We’re working to get this rectified as soon as possible.
That’s all for now, thank you again for your support for Kokoon!
